Vacuum cleaning method is the simplest method, but you can only apply this when the carpet does not contain so much stain. You have to vacuum your rug every week and wash it professionally every year once. You can apply this method only for wool, jute and cotton carpet. Never use or vacuum directly to the antique and silk carpets, otherwise, it can damage the piles of carpets and can reduce their value.
(Wet Stain) Clean by cotton cloth or towel: -
This is also a very easy method. You can do this at your home. First, find out the dump and dirty spots on the carpet ( if any wet stain exist). Put the dry towel on the top of the area and scrub by hand, press your full weight on various regions with the towel to assimilate as much dampness as you can from the spot. Repeat this process until the spot gets cleaned.
Baking soda method for carpet cleaning: -
Baking soda method is very popular. This is used when the carpet contains dark spots. Before applying this method first make sure that carpets have fixed color or not. Find the spot and spray baking soda on the stain and leave it for a minimum of 20 minutes. When it gets dry then vacuum it. For the stubborn spots, you can use a vinegar solution or lemon solution too.
Perform a deep cleaning with cold water and soap solution: -
The handmade carpets are totally hand washable. You can wash it at your home using detergent, shampoo, and soap solution. Fill a bucket with warm water and three or four tablespoons of detergent. Mix the solution together in a bucket. For the woolen carpet, you can use shampoo solution. Before applying this solution on the whole carpet first, test your solution by cleaning a small portion of carpet. Wet the small part of your carpet with solution and scrub by hand or any long-haired brush and leave it for 10 minutes. If the cleaning solution is changing your carpet's color or making the colors bleed, stop cleaning it and take it to a professional, otherwise, you can continue. Always remember when you spray the solution and scrubbing by hand the direction must be in direction of piles.
